If people don't believe in astrology, why do they post stupid answers in this section?

i find it somewhat amusing, though...y'know...cuz they are so focused on insulting us astrologers when instead, they're making themselves look like total rejects. what good is it gonna do saying "astrology is a piece of sh*t." it that gonna make us stop believing in it? no. so STFU UP AND LEAVE THIS SECTION.....but then again....stay. so we can laugh at your childish answers.

what do u think about this whole dilemma..and what's your sun/moon/rising?

I think that there are some people who feel very threatened when they see another person doing something that they've always thought was wrong and not valid and observe that this thing happens to be working for that other person. They cling to their conformity as proof that they are the "intelligent" and "rational" ones, and anyone who deviates from those thought processes and beliefs and practises which they find to be acceptable must in their opinions be "wrong", because they can't stand to have their own attitudes and beliefs questioned or disputed in any way, either to their faces, or through actions and opinions which may not even be relevant to them in any way, but still prove somehow that their own preconceived notions of what is true and what is not are "wrong" in some way. And so, in an effort to make themselves appear and feel more intelligent they come on here and try to make us feel and appear to be less intelligent.

You have to understand that this is the way society works. Those who are able to shut off their capacity for independent thought and regurgitate and believe everything that is presented to them as fact are rewarded, and those who cannot or do not wish to conform their thought processes are either assaulted repeatedly with their rhetoric in an effort to make the independent thinker assimilate or mocked openly and by the wide majority in order to discourage those who may be inclined to explore philosophies and schools of thought which may deviate from what is considered to be socially acceptable from questioning what they are told is true. It takes courage to think for yourself, as every time one does so they are met with resistance and hostility. Question your government and you're accused of being unpatriotic. Question religion and you're threatened with death. State an interest in astrology or heavens forbid assert that it is in fact accurate and useable, and you're just crazy and in extreme cases you belong in a mental hospital, lol. But if one is able to swallow the programming and accept it, then that person is viewed as sane and intelligent, held up as a pillar of society, and even promised eternal life after they're dead. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that given this, most people are going to choose to adapt their behaviour so that they can join the flock, because many people are weak minded and willed, and are dependent upon others for their security and prosperity. And quite frankly, society works very well for them, therefore they have no reason to nor any interest in questioning that which serves them and their purposes.

Astrology happens to be on the wrong side of the coin for these people, because it helps people with their *individual* paths and life purposes and does not stress conforming to anything which is detrimental to the individual,  rather than upholding the status quo at all costs. You'd better believe that the leaders of society use it, though...they just don't want anyone else catching on;-)

Times are changing though, and so are people, and as they say, this too shall pass:-)

You find these types in almost every category in Y!A....I think they just have nothing better to do than to just be 'snot nosed little brats' who enjoy acting it! I guess maybe it gives them some kind of release from their hum-drum everyday lives to get on here and try to make a@@'s of themselves!

I agree, sometimes I enjoy seeing how many idiots come here....on the other hand sometimes it's a little dissatisfying to think that it's a good possiblity that the majority on here (on some days) are complete moron's!

I just ignore them. I let the other people here argue with them but I leave those questions alone. I actually don't even think of those people but since you brought the topic up, I'll share my inputs for you.

It's a given that everyone's free to share their opinion. It's how they say it that makes the difference. Nobody has to be rude. They could ask nicely (and some do BTW) but instead they start arguments. In turn, their arrogance is reciprocated by fury from some of the people here and nothing gets settled --- just two sides infuriating the other.

Sadly, it's safe to assume that that's their intention all along and we're left angry while they're left smirking. Don't stoop down their level, everyone. Clear things up with them, fine. There's nothing wrong with guarding what you believe in. However, don't let them bother you.

But it should be alright to vent your frustrations every now and then. I understand that some people can't help it (=P) but umm... it shouldn't be a big deal.

Trying to convince them is like arguing with someone who's got Taurus in all of his planets. It's basically useless.

Their one minded, most of them don't study they just hear that you can tell a lot about a person just by the day they were born and they think impossible because so many are born on that day. But they never look into it, so they think we're stupid for studying it. You see this all over Y!A I used to try to explain to them but now I just tell them that they should look into it for themselves instead of just speculating. A lot of them answer for the points, but it really wastes the questioners time by having to check their answers that aren't helpful at all. I think we should just report them for spam because they didn't answer the question.

I say bring it on.  I love it when someone posts an insulting, dismissive-of-Astrology answer, and the response the person resceives is multiple TDs.  They don't get any positive feedback at all - the Astrology people descend on the person like vultures on carion.  I've noticed that sometimes you will never see that poster again in the horoscope section.  However, someone new, thinking that they might have some influence, will always come along.

I think the group support and pressure is so unique to the horoscope section in YA.  Where else will you have this kind of support.  Usually, it is one-one, face-face and the person who hurls the insults walks away smugly.  Not here - no, no; not here.  They disappear and I hope slightly embarrassed and maybe even a little scared.

Many non-believers actually believe in Astrology or they don't understand it and prefer to make complete as_ of themselves. Or they need attention and what better way to get it than to attack a section that others love.

Oh, it's funny indeed.  Because they will secretely email me with their questions, as in, "I saw your answer to this question," yada yada,, will you/could you please tell me...  and then I blow them away by what I can tell them about themselves.  They just don't want it made public is all, but they do want to learn.  But many feel embarrassed.  I don't care.  As long as somebody wants to learn, expresses an interest, it's okay by me.  Put me down, then secretely email me, it's flattering I guess.

And, not to offend you, but why do you get so offended?  Why is it so important?  Ignore it.  Who's the childish one here?  Why make such a big deal out of nothing???

They do it because they are anonymous and they can. Yes, it's stupid because they aren't going to convince us, but it's cute to see them try. Maybe they were insulted by astrology sometime in their life. Maybe they've been subjected to prejudice, or lost a loved one over it...Or maybe they are just too ignorant to do any research and think that the newspaper horoscopes are the definitive of what astrology is all about. Taking that into mind, and seeing some of the prejudice and stereotyping that goes on in Yahoo Answers, I can easily see why they'd hate astrology...I guess I can also understand the need to put it down, just because I like to argue also, and when I see something that bothers me, or insults my better judgment, I'll fight about it too. So perhaps they just get mad seeing all the stereotyping...It's too bad that they don't take some time to look into real astrology, but oh well. Most of my friends think I'm a loser for believing anyway, so I'm used to it. I don't really care, because I know what I know, and I always smile to myself when they act like the signs in their charts.

Well, I'm new here, but its still hard to miss all those ignorant people who purposely come to this section just to make us feel stupid. When really, they're the ones being dumb. I guess some people are just very narrow-minded. They cant even think about opinions that aren't relatively close to theirs. I don't really find it amusing as I do find it sad. Sad because they have nothing better to do. Sad because it makes me realize how people can be so stubborn sometimes.

I think people have rights to their own opinions. But I DON'T think its ok to force those opinions on others. Which is exactly what those people try to do.
