They say people in hotter countries are black or dark because of the sun, like Africa or Mexico but, how does that stay in your genes for generations to come? Can someone explain this in greater detail?

  1. Ppl in USA are diff from ppl in Uk because of change in temperate region.I.e more white in Uk an Reddish white in Usa.If someone from Usa comes to Uk,does it mean he will become more white? It has already been inherited an it will continue to remain constant no matter the region or country u stay.It is just like saying a black father an white mother give birth to a child,u will notice the child will inherite some traits from the father an from the mother(dark hair but white body or viceversa.

  2. You are thinking this the wrong way. Your suggestion makes it sounds like an organism can control their genes. Certain unique traits like black skin or hairy bodies comes about through a mutation in our genes. They are always random. BUT if that mutation is beneficial to the organism or in this case we are talking about a person, then that gene (which is expressed as darker skin color) will stay within a population. Lets imagine way way back then with people of different skin colors living in a climate with a great amount of sun. Over time, the ones with whiter skins have a hard time dealing with the climate than the ones with darker skin. The lighter skin people dies out gradually as the darker skinned people survive longer and are able to procreate. Over time, the gene for dark skin becomes popular within this population because of its staying power. You have to think about these things in terms of evolution. Organisms cannot choose their traits. For example a giraffe doesn't "grow" their neck longer to reach the tops of the trees. Through decades of time, those with longer necks (due to a mutation) are able to ADAPT to the environment easier. And thus natural selection and survival of the fittest theory is the most likely explanation for ANY of the traits that we have now, humans, animals, plants and so on. It's important to realize that it is rare for a mutation to be beneficial and for a trait to become popular within a gene pool, they would have to appear a lot also.

And getting back to your question, darker skinned people already have the genes in their body and will pass those genes onto the next generation. But just remember that skin colors can vary in tones.

  3. The detail is in God.  God is the force that connects all the generations.  At some point God says, "O.K.  There's no point in this.  How about I just fix it so they just stay tanned and protected from the sun.  Ka-poof."

  4. it may differ over time but we haven't had long enough to see it.

  5. It's not like people just got darker and tanner and then passed that on to their offspring; it's that people who had more pigment in their skin were better able to survive and reproduce in hotter countries, so more children with darker pigments in their skin were born, and this kept happening until the entire population had darker skin to protect them from the sun.
