If people stopped driving for a day?

would it make people realize they need to lower gas cost? Isn't there anything we can do to get gas lower again? I'm not asking for .99cents or anything but something is better than what its at right now. I know that riding a bike or driving less is an option for some people but I live in the country and I can not get to a grocery store riding a bike or take my 3 kids anywhere and public transportation is not an option cause its not where I live yet. Anyone have any thoughts?

  1. Nobody would get anywhere... we need gas for transportation. But that would be awesome if we were to find an alternative fuel that would be less hazardous to the earth.

  2. The only way for the gas prices to get lowers is by doing the one of the two, or both.

We either need to lower our consumption

Or we need to increase the ammount produced.

There is pretty much nothing else we can do.  Gas companies accually only make about 8 cents of profit per gallon of gas.  That is suprisingly low considering how high gas prices are.

  3. As long as people have to work to put food on the table, they aren't going to stop driving.

  4. The price of gas and crude oil has de-coupled from supply and demand factors and other normal economic factors that dictate prices.  That means it has taken a life of its own.  I think so much money is invested in oil and gas that it just pushes it up non-stop.  Already demand has fallen and it's spring time when demand should be surging, instead it keeps falling but the price just goes up and up.

  5. It would do jack squat, what's one day going to do?  Nothing.  Besides that's impossible, people need to get to work.

  6. It wouldn't do much if anything at all.

Oil is traded on a global market based on supply vs demand.

demand goes up. So does the price.

Oil is in high demand world wide. In 2003 China's demand was up 30%. India is not far behind. The demand for oil never goes down.

So, If the demand went down for one day. It might lower the price. But, as soon as people started to buy it again demand goes back up and so does the price.

  7. Lets just kill about 5 billion people, then there will be less oil usage, and since that's what the so called experts say is the problem, this should fix it, right.
