  1. £ or $

  2. 30 years ago, we were told that computer technology would give us a paper-free world.  Now computers mean we use about 10 times as much paper as we did with the old quill pen and ledger systems.

I've just audited the books for a church.  A few years ago, this would have involved looking in two books and making notes on a couple of sheets of accounting paper.  This time, printing out the audit reports has accounted for a couple of acres of forest.

When I first got a credit card (Barclaycard about 1967) the bill came on a piece of card (with holes punched in it).  Now I get 2 A4 sheets.

I have a theory that people who write accounting software and the paper manufacturers are in league with the devil to destroy the planet.

  3. wasting paper is first of all unrelated with making paper.it's obvious that paper is one of the important materials used in all fields.no message can be reported  in offices without papers.

In short, people make paper to satisfy the people who are in need of it and people tell us not to waste paper as no one likes any useful thing to be wasted.

  4. for money and people are multiplying so we need more paper for educational and other necessities

  5. for money and other uses.......

  6. I think, as society and human kind, we are just maturing to reduce consumption of paper. Till now we had plenty of resources available and they were cheaper then any other means. However now electronic communication is becoming cheaper day by day so people will gradually start using less papers (Hopefully)...

I agree that when computers were invented, people envisage paperless systems, which did not happen for a long; However if you notice today, we have electronic communication being available with us, usage of paper is being reduced. I receive my mobile bill, electricity bill, credit card statement etc. in my email account. I also pay all of these online....!!!

Hence I think it is up to us each individual human being to step forward and start reduction of paper usage....

    GO GREEN......

  7. If recycling were mandatory, there would be no need to cut trees to make more paper. Working in the corporate world (before I couldn't take it any more) I was sickened by the amounts of paper thrown away by companies..the company I worked for is national...so thinking about how much the office was throwing away, plus the other regional offices, plus the agent offices, just made my stomach turn...Recycling by corportations should be mandatory because the sheer volume of paper products used by them is insane...but if we all did our part, making paper from trees wouldn't be an issue...and if we would get over the lies, we can make paper and other items from resources like hemp, like they did in the old days....ye old Constitution, yep, made from hemp paper.

  8. extracting paper from trees require lesser energy than ercycling paper which includes many processes- 1.collecting paper,2.sorting out paper clips, staples etc ,3. shredding paper into small pieces,4.mixing with chemicals,5.drying,6. cutting rolls of paper into sheets for common use.     which require's much more energy. Thus, the selfish company owners prefer to earn good money with less energy than by wasting money on recycling process  which earn 's them little profit.

  9. the only reasons why paper was made is because it can be moved and easy to use imagine a life without paper. it would be very hard to do most of the things.
