If people think the Chinese lied about the gymnasts age, why isn't the Olympic committee investigating it?

They only go on Passports for the age thing. The real question is: Why would a Chinese citizen need a frickin passport in their own country? They should start going by original birth certificates. But alas they can be forged too.

because... they were shown passports.. which is all that you need. I think the IOC is too busy right now to deal with them. after the olympics... i'm sure they'll investigate. those girls are NOT 16. in ANYWAY.

I think this whole situations is absolutely ridicules!!!!!!! There is no way in h**l that those girls are 16!!! They two of them still have teeth coming in! They have such young faces! It's CRAZY! And people have found Chinese websites that confirm that one of the girls was 13!!! It makes me so freakin pissed!!! The rules are there for everyone!!! I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that somebody grows some brains and realizes that those little girls are not 16 and therefor have no right to compete. They need to be disqualified!

It's not in their boundaries. It's the responsibility of FIG.

They have passports that state their age, a government issued ID, it's all that is required and they have no reason to think anything different than what the ID states. Fair or not...that's their government.

they think the passports given were good enough proof that they are 16. for all we know those passports could have been fakes given by the chinese government.
