If you are posting from and to and UK mainland destination it should.  'Should' being the operative word, there is no guarantee.

You can get guaranteed next day delivery by taking it to a post office counter, but it costs more.

Picked it up?   Do you mean posted?   It the collection time was after you deposited the letter,It was stamped first class  ,   and a UK address  . well about 95%  sure will be delivered tomorrow.   No 100% guarantee though..
