If prunes are dehydrated plums, where does prune juice come from?

  1. plums.  they don't rehydrate the prunes.  i grew up on prunes and dehydrators.  some go for dried fruit.  some go for juice.  i could tell you the whole process...


  2. Prunes are a fruit themselves. They grow smaller than a plum. The best ones come from CA

  4.        From stewed prunes.   Remove the prunes, and the water that remains is called prune juice.

  5. It comes from fresh prunes generally grown in California.  The prune is a variety of the plum family.  The prunes are pressed to get the juice.

  6. They rehydrate the prunes then squeeze out the liquid.

    Yeah, it seems like it is silly, but it gives it a different flavour than if if you just squeezed the juice out of the plums.
