  1. PLEASE contact Westfield High School and order a copy of they play "We the People" it is an original play may of the monologues were writing by high school student and the original idea of the play came from Virginia tech theater department.

I swear you will not regret watching this

  2. Definitely.  And we could take back our government and make it respond to us instead of to lobbyists.

Also, if "We The People" were informed and kept up on the issues and the candidates, we would get better people in Congress and better presidents.  Informed voters never would have elected George Bush.

  3. Yes I think we would.  In a democracy (or a republic) the government -is- the people, it is an expression of the people's will.   So long as we have the vote, politicians only get away with stuff because we let them, they are only unaccountable because we don't hold them accountable.

Of course the politicians and the special interests they favor don't want the people to be involved.  They want people to be disgusted, to feel powerless, to not participate or even keep themselves informed.  The more people who do this, who withdraw from political participation, they easier it is for them to operate as they do, running the government only to concentrate wealth and reinforce privilege.

We have never really had 'government by the people, for the people, and of the people'.  But it could work!  The only reason it doesn't is that people are effectively convinced that it can't.  And of course, the first thing we could do to fix this is not to vote for the party who believes government -can't- work, that government is inherently evil.

  4. If we were interested in being citizens, of course we would have more integrity in government service, but our nation is a capitalist society driven by consumerism. We don't have time to be good citizens and good shoppers too,so, as voters, we buy whoever has the best sales pitch. This is the downfall of our nation.

  5. Absolutely yes we would.
