Question:

If "god" could stop the sun (Joshua 10:1-15), why can't he steer Gustav away from heavily populated areas?

"god" performed a miracle, and stopped the sun to give Joshua more time to destroy a city. Apparently "god" is not interested in now performing a miracle to SAVE peoples lives.

  1. Who do you want it to hit?  What gives you the right to say?  Who says that God is "steering" it to New Orleans?  We simply do no have that information, of what God is doing or not doing.  It is never what happens to us that matters, it is how we perceive and handle what happens to us that matters.

  2. She can, she's mad that everyone keeps calling her a HE!

  3. well for a start, those who were in battle that day, believed God would.

It doesn't sound like you are much of a believer, so really why would God do anything out of the ordinary for you?

  4. He could if He wanter to. But, God may be judging them. We don't know why God does some things. We are humans, He is God. He doesn't make any mistakes, while we humans always make mistakes. We just have to trust Him. When we get to Heaven, we will understand why He did the things He did.

  5. Well, from your question, we can rule you out as a christian, right?

If you were a christian you would know the answer to this question.

  6. Maybe he will. You should pray.

  7. Here's what happened. Last week in Colorado,  James Dobson got the thousands of supporters for his "Focus On The Family" to pray for a down pour Thursday night. If this rain storm had come about, they were hoping to ruin Senator Obama's acceptance speech. So as a result the Republicans are getting a hurricane this week to spoil their convention. I guess the folks at FOtF prayed to the wrong god or he got confused as to which convention he was supposed to ruin.

Uh oh, here come the thumbs down.

  8. Stopping the sun was pointless. It would not have helped. It shows God's ignorance. He was obviously unaware that the sun is at the centre of the solar system. Stopping the earth would have been more rational. (leaving aside what to do with the kinetic energy of course!! Whoever gave me a thumbs down is incapable of thinking logically.

The fundie lunatics are sure out in force. If it hits God intended it. If it doesn't God intended it! If you prayed for it to miss and it missed your prayers were answered. If it hit, either you didn't pray with enough faith or God had other plans which you are not privileged to know until you are in the !happy land" Get a life!

  9. God can do it.  But God already knows where Gustav is going to go & what it is going to do.  Those in Gustav's path need to call on the Name of Jesus.

Apparently God is interested when people call on His Name.

I wonder about what is going on in Israel.  The last time, when Hurricane Katrina hit, Israel just withdrew from Gaza. And we (US) had just been there in Israel to pressure Israel. Now, Condolisa Rice was just there again. But I don't think we are pressuring Israel to give up more land.

Or maybe this has something to do with Gaza still. Maybe because the Hamas terrorist are still ruling Gaza & terrorizing her Christian population & Israel still.  Maybe we should just pressure Israel to put Hamas out of leadership.

And also what are we doing for Georgia when Russia is killing innocent people there?

  10. God's ways are not the ways of men. Blame him if you want. But he has purpose in all things that are beyond our understanding.

  11. He can, but we need to remember that the earth was also cursed after the fall. God allows a lot of devastation but He will make it up to us in heaven if and when we have suffered here on earth. He asks us to be ready. Everything happens in God's timing

  12. Who is asking? Do you have the faith of Joshua?

  13. Well, God stopped the sun to make a point and to win the battle for the Jews.  God could stop the hurricane if He wanted to, but since He made it in the first place, He had his reasons.  People put themselves in harms way, then blame God for not saving them.  If people were smart, they would evacuate from the Gulf Coast until it clears.  Its not God's fault if people are morons.

  14. no because God doesn't exist

  15. Not "if" God could stop the sun..., He DID! And He has told us in His new covenant/ new testament, how He will operate and what He will and will not do in our time..., like, Jesus took back all authority and dominion over the earth away from the devil and gave it to mankind again, in the name of Jesus. Either you operate "in His name" and in agreement with His will to bless the earth and other people or you don't. Evidently there are not enough people praying in agreement with His word that taught us that "no evil will come near your dwelling place" in Psalm 91 and in agreement with 1 Corinthians 15:57 and 2 Corinthians 2:14 and many other passages to stop the storm.  Storms are not the "acts of God", but rather part of the cursed world system run amuck with no believers to take their dominion and authority. The believers in any one area have the authority over evil in that area to say as the Lord said, "Peace, Be still" and it would obey you..., as Jesus taught us to do. You can say to the mountain/the problem/ the issue, "be removed" and it will be removed at OUR word if we say it in faith. Most believers in God and in prayer are still begging God to do something about it. If god's children don't stand up and demand the devil stop his antics, there won't be any miracle! See?

God gave us back all the power and authority in Jesus Christ and we either use it or not.

Great question. God is not limited, but He allows what we allow and we partner with Him or we don't.

  16. I would liken this to being a 7 month old kid in a car seat with Mom at the wheel.  We have no idea where Mom is taking us and limited communication skills.  But we trust her.  We have no other choice.

  17. He probably can, however, the Israelites were his chosen people and were ( at the time) obeying his commandments and being a holy nation. should America decide to do the same perhaps God will find favour in them and help them out too.

  18. He can.  The big question is why did people go back there after what happened 3 years ago?  When are humans going to take responsibility for their own stupid decisions and stop blaming everything on God?
