  1. If we were to want our "indepandance", it would undoubtedly be to distance ourselves from the ignorant prejudices northerners are perpetuating here.

FYI - stop believing everything you hear about the south.  Your end of the map has the same problems we do.  And if you can't understand that, well.... we just don't like you either.

  2. I live in the North, and I'd say "Let them go!!!"

  3. Why would Eire want another civil war? They are independent.

  4. it would be grand to see the South depart the Union.

  5. Secession just isn't practical anymore, and I can't see a conflict anytime soon. That would entail a guerilla war rather than any conventional war, and that would be too destructive. It would also fail to secure the objective of Southern Independence.

  6. No. States do not have the right to secede. I don't think there is enough support in the South for independence anyway. The federal government would never allow the South to ever have a real chance. We are so closely tied together economically it would be a complete disaster.

  7. If all northerners down here would move back, we'd be happy.

  8. I can see it coming that way in years to come with  the number of illegal immigrants coming over the US border! The Southern states will rise again!!

  9. A civil way? Is that a new route north for the economic refugees?

  10. A vote will be just fine. Can the north please keep Florida though?

But wait a second... If we just let the south be independent, wouldn't they start another war tomorrow?

  11. unfortunately there is still a bitter divide between North and South...But I do not believe there will be another war between the states anytime soon. The federal government saw to the indoctrination of the entire country. At one time people would refer to the to America as the united states "are"(plural).....it is now the United States "is"(singular).

  12. Most likely it would be a majority vote by the people, and would not result in war since that is an "old fashioned" way of independance. Most likely it would be very successful, because the southern parts of the US alone have the third largest economy in the world next to California.

  13. I think the federal government would try to play off any attempt as a "situation" provoked by "a few radical extremists", "domestic terrorists", "religious fanatics", "social misfits", etc. and would try to crush it with overwhelming force a la Waco/Ruby Ridge.  If that didn't work and large areas came under the control of Southern forces (or forces representing some state or region) they might step things up to the "Rally-round-the-flag" approach and try to get popular support for putting down a full scale rebellion.

I think that if any state or region could muster enough support to build a moderately effective fighting force and go on the defensive then they would eventually win out.  I don't think the American public has the stomach to suffer the kind of casualties it would take to put down something like that just to keep a state in the union.  It would be a most intollerable interuption in our reality TV watching and Xbox playing.

Let me translate that for my fellow Americans:  "Baaaaaa!!!  Baaaaaa!!!  Baaaaaa!!!"

  14. First and foremost the south doesnt want any type of independence from the north. We are a union, a country, that is so divided on moral standards, ethics, economics, etc. But one thing links us all together no matter what and that is our pride in our country. Black, white, or any other nationality will stand up for their country. Just look at 9/11, no one was talking about racism, a failing economy, a war in iraq. All anyone could do is bond together and stand up for our nation. So not only would succesion be demoralizing for both sides, but it would have drastic effects, economically. One can not exist without the other and by one I mean this nation as north and a south.

  15. Any State is able, with the will of its voters, to secede from the Union. Why honey, we shure 'nuff doan need a woar fo' thet.

  16. if they really wanted it that bad---I think Id have to let them go--and say good luck!

  17. I doubt there would be much of a fight this time.

  18. Absolutely!

  19. i think another civil war wouldn't be north vs south but extreme conservatives against extreme liberals...with everyone in the middle being innocent casualties

  20. Of course, however the idea is preposterous. I think we are past that. The way the south is voting for Obama is an indication of that.

  21. In America presumably, haven't they got enough going on with Iraq, Afghanistan, and holding off Iran from blowing up Israel.
