  1. the first fight was kinda boring... and they were in their prime!  Jones was better then, but i feel Hop is better now. i see Bernard winning a not so exciting unanimous decision. if Jones takes risks by unloading and going for a ko, it would make the fight enjoyable!

  2. I think B-Hop would take Jones if they fought again. It would probably be a boring fight but Hopkins is cagey enough to pull off a decision

  3. When they first fought, they were both in their prime.  Now that they are both past their respective primes, you have to look at who still has more left and who has faced the better opposition:

Hopkins' last 5 fights go like this: 2 very close losses to Jermain Taylor in 2005, a lopsided win over Antonio Tarver in 2006, a fairly close win over Winky Wright in 2007, and a very close loss to Joe Calzaghe in 2008.

Jones' last 5 fights go like this: a devestating knockout loss to Glen Johnson in 2004, a one sided loss to Antonio Tarver in 2005, a one sided win over Badi Ajamu in 2006, a solid win over Anthony Hanshaw in 2007, and a solid win over Felix Trinidad in 2008.

Hopkins' three losses were to fighters who were at the top of their game and his two wins were against fighters who many thought would beat him and were also at the top of their game.  Jones lost to Tarver in their third fight because he didn't open up enough because he didn't want to get knocked out again like he did in their second fight or the Johnson fight.  His three wins were against poor competition- Badi Ajamu was a nobody, Hanshaw was a nobody, and Trinidad was overweight and past his prime.  And Tito even managed to win the first three rounds against Roy.  Hopkins has faced and has won against the much better opposition over the past few years and it is clear to me that he has more left in the tank than Jones does at this stage of their careers.  If they fought again now, I would probably go with Hopkins by a boring decision due to Jones not being active enough in the fight.  The only thing that Jones still has that could possibly win him a rematch against Hopkins is his speed, and "speed kills."  Jones has always been the faster fighter and it still holds true to this day, but Hopkins has almost every other asset in his favor now.  If this rematch had happened in 2003 or any time before that, then Jones would have won another decision like he did in the first fight because Jones was always the better fighter.  It was only after he gained all that weight to fight at heavyweight and then dropped down so fast back to light heavyweight that his age really started to show.  Jones is the best fighter of his era and was the pound for pound king for the majority of the 1990s and early 2000s- he was a better fighter than Hopkins was and he would have beaten him again if they fought while they were both in their prime, but at this stage of their careers, Hopkins has more left and would most likely beat Jones if they fought now (even though I don't think that will happen because Jones will most likely fight Joe Calzaghe next).

  4. i think it would be different, jones was untouchable at that stage of his carreer in their first fight, and is no where near the same fighter anymore.where hopkins seems ageless and maybe even stronger than earlier in his career, i think hopkins could beat jones at this point of their careers. but in their prime,  jones jr. is way better than hopkins.

  5. jones is over the hill.
