  1. If the were both in their prime Royce would win, but not now

  2. If they went to the old fight format were there is no time limit and those heel strikes Gracie used to throw to ppls kidneys while he was on his back was still legal then Gracie would have a shot to win.....But with the new format 3, 5 minute rounds and hughes takedowns Hughes wins

  3. Hughes completely dominated him, both standing and on the ground.  I have no reason to believe a rematch would be any different.

  4. Nope, He would get smashed again and "sent home"

  5. No, and even if Royce was in his prime he wouldnt beat Hughes.

  6. Would anybody be interested? Two has-beens I'm afraid, although in his prime Gracie was untouchable.

  7. no...

  8. what did you see in the first fight that gave you any indication that royce would win a rematch?

as for a matchup of the both of them in their primes, its still hughes.

a prime royce fighting against a pre 2001 hughes would have a good chance of winning.

i think a matchup in both their primes would go the distance, but with hughes on top pounding away the whole fight, again its difficult to envision a scenario where royce wins.

hughes cracked royces arm with a keylock, before taking his back and landing about 20 shots to the sides of royces head before the ref stopped it.

let it go.  royce is always gonna be a legend.  hughes kicking his butt doesnt change that.

  9. no, the fighters of today (even the aging ones) are much better than the ones of the early ufc. in my opinion that is.

royce gracie only won because noone knew about groundfighting and thats a fact, with few exceptions..h**l back in the day he couldn't beat ken shamrock, it went to a draw when they had their superfight. he was never a striker at all. and in todays mma arena, you have to be well rounded. kimo all but defeated royce too, royce couldnt continue after their fight. so to say he was untouchable is simply not true.

the only reason bjj did so well was because it was so different than what everyone else was doing at the time, they took everyone down and put them into the ground game, so they took the strikers out of their element. put a gracie in a boxing ring, and they will get smashed to bits. put a gracie in a thai match and his legs will be smashed and his face ripped open. so..in alot of ways, the rules have an effect too. now, as we've seen, if you put a boxer, or kickboxer in the mma ring, and he has not ground experience, and the fight goes down, he will lose most likely.

anyway...matt would win again, then, or now in my opinion.
