  1. heyyy well first off those teams just happen to be my two favorite teams. I've been a Sharks fan much longer though & they were my favorite team first so of course i'd have to go with my sharks. :) It would be a good series. The Sharks would take it in 6 games maybe even 7 you just never know. I'd like to see J.R. rise it to the occasion because this is most likely going to be his last year playing. I think the Sharks would win because they made alot of new changes, they got a whole new coaching staff & they have some new faces on the roster. The Pens lost alot of people from there 07-08 roster but I know for a fact they are still going to be a great team this year. If the Sharks are going to win (which what I want to happen) they are going to have to step up there A game & not play stupid like they have in the past 3 years during the second round. Honestly even if they make it to the stanley cup finals & it's not against the pens, I think they can beat anyone on the east, no matter who it is. The west is just clearly stronger as a whole.

ok know that I rambled enough of my story, I think that's it. :)

ooo & one more thing, i'm probably one of the craziest & biggest sharks fans ever so I believe in them always, I know they can do it.

  2. sharks in 5 or 6 and i would really see jermey roenick rising to the occasion because he would be really close to winning the cup

  3. I would say Pittsburgh would win. 6 or 7 games. It would be just as physical as the Detroit-Pitt series. I think Fluery would "rise to the occasion". I say Pitt because unlike Joe Thornton, Crosby actually shows up for post season games.

  4. San Jose in 6 because I still owe some allegiance to them after the beat the Flames in the '08 playoffs.  But in six weeks, all my allegiance is with the Flames, as long as they win lots of games.  LOL

  5. I'm gonna go outside the box and say Pens in 5. Defensively, I really don't think the Sharks match up well with the Pens. (One thing Detroit did really well, and trust me, I've brooded quite a bit on this series, was they matched up lines, pretty effectively neutralizing Sid. Although a healthy Malkin would have made that series a little more interesting.)

Although the Sharks have a fantastic Goalie in Nabakov, how many times can he play 80 games a season and still be great?

I also agree with the Joe Thorton comment. When he arrives in a playoff series, (which he never did in bean town,) then I think that becomes an interesting series.

In terms of the "San Jose is too physical," well, the Pens dispatched a "really physical" team in the Flyers in short order. Granted, that was last year, but still, for sheer offensive firepower, you have to think the Pens are the favorite in that series.

  6. SAN JOSE WOOOO

    well yea because....

it would probably be down to the wire because if the sharks made it that far then they would play really well

and the player that would rise to the occasion....

    NABBY!!!!

  7. Sharks in 6, it wouldn't be exceedingly physical, Penguins have lost too many key players from last year. I see Matt Carle doing a pretty good Paul Coffey impersination as an offencive defenceman. Fleury will do his best for the Penguins to keep the games close, but Pittsburgh just isn't what they were a year ago.

Thanks for the reminder Isles - in that case I see Cheechoo coming through big time.

  8. Detroit is one of the least physical teams in the NHL and they still had the puck 90% of the time!  Pittsburgh gained A LOT of experience in last years' playoffs and Staal, Letang, Fleury etc. have all matured.  It is their time to shine.  If they pick up Shanahan, look out.  Joe Thornton does a disappearing act every playoffs.  All you have to do is stick someone on either him or Cheechoo train and the game is over.  Marleau disappears and Roenick is running out of gas.  It would be a great series but I'd pick the Pens in 6.

  9. Go Sharks!

  10. The Stanley Cup doesnt have a consolation series like the Olympics for a 3rd place (Bronze medal)... so this will never happen!

  11. it'd be really physical, but if san jose goes to the finals at all. ..they're winning...i'd say they'd take it in 6..  I can see Cheechoo  picking up the slack scoring a bunch of goals in that series...I can also see Ryan Clowe doing some damage...

Matt Carle's inTampa Bay now actually...

  12. SJ in 6.

    SJ would kill Pittsburgh physically.

It would be close but not to close.

Clowe although I hate him would be a big player in the series.

SJ is simply just a deeper team.
