  1. Sounds like you are hearing only one side of the story. No one is sure of global warming. Some people have some good evidence proving it, some have the opposite. The only way to prove it is to keep track of it if it happens.

  2. Science is not sure that global warming is "real".  Scientists are very careful with presenting explanations as facts.  They almost always present theories.  Also, theories are always open to change.  Everyone used to think the Earth was the center of the universe at one time---and that changed as new evidence was available.

That being said.  The argument for the case of global warming is a strong one with much supporting evidence.

  3. Because the Earth and it's climate are so complex that it is difficult to prove or disprove global warming as a mankind related phenomena.

Recently many people, particularly scientists have backed away from the term "global warming" and refer now to "climate change".

The Al Gore movie was not completely factual: it is easy to distort science to support a particular viewpoint, especially when you are in charge of the interview and editing process.

  4. Huh?

The only way to prove that it's true is to run a 'control' experiment with a duplicate Earth.  Since this is impossible, we have to use common sense.  Is it more likely that the polar ice is melting faster than EVER before in human history because:

    A) Normal patterns

    or

    B) Human consumption of fossil fuels is causing an imbalance in nature

Hmm....I'm putting my money on choice B.  Have you actually looked at the rate at which human being use resources on this planet?  We are the ONLY species that doesn't live in balance with nature...so nature finds a way to balance the equation.  It's as simple as that.

  5. I asked science last thursday. He was not sure.
