Question:

If scientists determined we were headed into an ice age because of the sun, could we stop it with Co2?

I've read that most of the current warming occurred from1850 to1940 before the industrial revolution really kicked in to high gear. Is this well documented science.

  1. As most climate scientists in the 1970's were saying - it doesn't work that way.

The physical properties of CO2 just aren't sufficient to cause measurable warming.  The theoritical science hasn't advanced much since researchers were predicting global cooling in the 1970's - the temperature just increased slightly, so they switched to global warming.

We've had 10 years of cooling so if this keeps up for much longer, they'll switch back.

  2. No, Mars has plenty of frozen CO2

  3. No as co2 has no effect on temperatures.  CO2 has increased at a constant rate over the last 20 years, however temperatures have remained steady for the last 10 years.

Co2 lags behind temperature.  When temperature goes up, co2 will after about 800 years.

  4. Depending on the amount of variation in the Sun, probably, yes.  Currently the radiative forcing from CO2 alone is about 14 times greater than that from the Sun.

By the way, your additional details are wrong.  The planet has warmed about 0.8°C since 1850, and 0.5°C of that warming has happened over the past 30 years:

  5. I would say no, the same applies to trying to cool it down with less CO2 production.

The scientists have a long way to go before being able to alter our climate for the good or bad, and nobody who can know wether it is good or bad yet.

That is the problem with the AGW theory, it still can't be reliably predicted as to what the various results to our ecosystem will be if one variable is changed.

And yet we are to believe that they know what changes CO2 emissions will bring about in our atmosphere and wether they will be beneficial ( good ) or detrimental ( bad ).

They would have us believe that they know without a doubt what will happen, it will be bad, we better listen up good, deniers are destroyers, just spend a little more, empower us, we know whats best.

    Hogwash!!!!

  6. It would be impossible to produce enough CO2 to make any difference.  Man-made CO2 is just a small fraction of the total CO2 in the atmosphere.

  7. Co2 just trapps heat. It doesn't create heat.
