  1. This is an interesting question!  Our perception of the world is a direct reflection of what is going on with ourselves.  We twist our image of both the world and ourselves through our interactions with the other (world influences perception of self and self influences perception of the world).  Similarly, the term "looking glass self" is applicable here.  We perceive ourselves through our social world.  We learn to be how we perceive others to perceive us.  For example, as a red head I perceive others as thinking that I have a fiery temper and like to drink alcohol.  I perceive this through their interactions with me (people tend to be nonconfrontational towards me and I am often invited to drink).  This perception of how others act towards me has impacted how I view myself.

Similarly, our envisionment of the world through our perception of self is not singular nor is it static.  This is a huge generalization, but when we are happy we see a happy world.  Conversely, when sad or angry we see a sad and angry world.  If you don't believe me, try driving while sad and see how many people fail to use a turn signal or cut you off in traffic versus driving when you are happy.  When sad you will likely be infuriated by those who cannot exhibit simple safety and curteous driving behavior.  This often leads to false attributions of human behavior (a social psychology text will go into attributions in much more detail than this but...).  We are far more likely to attribute the behaviors of others in accordance with our current mood (mood being very much reflective on our realization of self at the moment and over the lifespan).  Therefore through our own self-realization we can actually manipulate the social world around us and conversely allow it to manipulate our self-realization through a repeating cycle of perception.

Wow, so I hope that makes sense.  I wrote that basically free-form.  Let me know if I need to clarify anything or if you want a better explanation.  Email works!  Good luck.

  2. Please restate the question!! cheers
