  1. They probably will have some kind of bad reaction, OD, or die.

  2. Well, if a person is taking them when they KNOW they don't need them, ie, for FUN or something stupid like that, they could wind up actually needing them in the future.

Antidepressants affect the "reuptake" of certain neurochemicals in the brain. Anything that effects brain chemistry is something you want to be careful of. If you take a medication long enough, when you DON'T need it, you can eventually create within yourself the problem it is meant for.  Example; if a person takes antipsychotics, but they are NOT psychotic, eventually the medication can cause you to have a psychotic episode, resulting in the need for other medications to control psychosis.

Do you understand? NO medication is meant to be messed around with. If you've been prescribed an antidepressant, and you KNOW you don't need it, don't take it. if you THINK you may not really need it, talk to your doctor. Some people can take them for a year or so, and then be fine; their brain just needs a little help providing the right chemical balance and then it can manage on its own. Some people, their brain can never do it on its own, so they have to take meds for the rest of their lives.

  3. If they're doctor prescribed you won't OD unless you take more than the recommended dose. Most types of antidepressants must be taken for at least a month before any results are noticed. Then you are normally asked to go back for a follow-up to see if they are working. Any side effects or mood changes should be discussed.

  4. Nothing, I know a lot of non-prescribed pill poppers. Just don't over dose.
