  1. You go through their checking account statements, to see what company they've been paying - because they have to pay at least once a year.   Or you wait, until they get the annual statement from the life insurance company.  

    There's no central database where you can look it up, if that's what you mean.

    If you are the executor of the estate, you can pay a fee and have an application search done.  You can either search questions to find out where (as I post it about 4X a day, when everyone asks it) or email me seperately for the info.    If you're not the executor, you can't do it.


  2. Search through all the papers and documents in their house if they have a policy you should come across it.

    You may have to go through all the old checkbooks to find when the premium was last paid. This might mean looking back as far as one year.

    If they were employed they may have some coverage with the employer.

    wait until the next premium notice is sent.

    I forgot to mention for $75 you can have the Medical Information Bureau conduct a policy search.
