  1. never accept postdated checks unless it is someone you trust. if the person threatens to cancel the check take it to a police station and explain what it was given to you for and ask them what you can do, unfortunately the person will probably pretend the book was stolen or any amount of excuses.

Go to the police so the person will realise you are F%$£$% serious about getting your money back. if you give it back the person will feel like you are esy to scare etc

  2. I'm not really sure what exactly your asking but...You can cash a post dated check. The bank doesn't normally look at the date. The account holder can dispute the transaction but it normally doesn't do them any good if this is on a personal checking account. It is illegal to "float" checks. Meaning writing a check before the funds are available. Hope this helps!

  3. You have very little protection but if you cash the check and it comes back, such as the bank refusing it, you can prosecute him for issuing a worthless check. You can tell him that you will turn the check over to the proper authorities and see him get into more trouble than he needs.

Goto the bank today, and cash that check. If possible the bank it was written on.
