If someone's name is Cohen (also Katz, Rappaport, etc.), what is the chance that they are a Kohen?

What percentage of each are really Kohanim? Also Levi, Levitan, Horowitz, etc. for Levites.

  1. Cohen could easily be mistaken for Kohen back when a lot of people were illiterate and the person writing the name had to write what he heard.
