If someone acts vain - keep on saying their a 10 rating while every else is a 0-2 rating ( its a man) ....?

Are they any psychological theories which i can match to the behavior of this man - i sure he really is very insecure etc.

I would say he sounds very insecure and he is proably jealous of the people he is putting down. By putting them he is trying to bring them down to his level to make himself fee better about himself. He also sounds rather arrogant which is another way people put up their defences if they are feeling insecure.

He sounds like a not really very nice person. If its a friend you could try talking to him about it. There may be an underlying experience that has triggered his behaviour that he could work through.

He is trying to reassure himself that he is the best to hide his insecurities, yes.  I don't know what it's called but i think it's

tuboinesiskanonshingletoenimblessynosi... syndrome..yes i think that's right.

Now either that or he is just trying to make people mad for the fun of it, which means he must have a pretty boring life..I probably fall into that category myself sometimes.

Well it sounds like he just has a Superiority Complex.  Is he a '10' in your view?  Maybe he really is that great.  On the other hand, he may be very insecure and instead of waiting for others to big him up, he does it for himself.  I wouldn't take him seriously - just frown a little, cup your ear with your right hand and say "what's that sound ...... oh, it's somebody blowing their own trumpet".
