  1. Likely the cops won't drop the charges.

If they don't she should play along, but in court, ruin their case as a witness.

  2. she can drop the charges and probably get him out rite then and there but that doesn't mean he gets off scott free he still has to deal with the wrath of sis. and thats not all even though she dropped the charges the state can still pick it up.

(that happened to me this past summer with an assault charge).

  3. She could, but I wouldn't if I were her.  If she loves her brother, she'll let him suffer being in jail to teach him a lesson.  I'm glad he turned himself in.  That's a start.  He should still do time so that he hopefully will get it through his head that stealing is wrong and won't do it again.

  4. Not sure really... she reported a crime and then the brother confessed to the crime and the police have the evidence of the crime. At this point I don't think the police even need the sister to make a case.

The brother should probably look for a deal that doesn't put him in jail.

  5. It's a crime, not a civil matter.

The State presses the charges, not the victim.

If he turned himself in, and returned the stolen goods,

    the court should go easy.
