  1. Depends on where you are located.

Laws vary from state to state and even cities within a state.

A guy in Texas was just found not guilty for shooting two men who were attempting to rob the home of his neighbor.

  2. like the others say it depends on the state. In some you have to be in true fear for your life. You have to try to escape and if you cant you can use necessary force to defend yourself.

  3. Okla. has a Make My Day law ,you can use deadly force. Most people around here would shoot'em regardless though includeing me.

  4. Yes, just dont answer any questions about what happened, because they may try to catch you in a loophole.

  5. It depends on what state you live in. Each state establishes its own rules regarding this important issue.

I live in Florida, which has a law that allows a resident to shoot an intruder if he feels his life is in peril. What defines "peril" will often be determined in court.

Check your state statutes regarding the use of lethal force in protecting a homestead. Every state has an online database of statutes.

  6. The general rule is 'if you are in imminent fear for your life' you can defend yourself... It's not a free pass, and you'd still have to answer questions and the incident would be investigated.

  7. If you are afraid or think they are armed, or you are acting in self defense you can shoot them.  You can also act to defend some other person.  Be careful.  I know of many cases where someone heard a noise and shot a family member, or a newspaper delivery boy in the darkness.  It happened to a friend of mine.

  8. At my house, they will be shot first, and their rights discussed second.

  9. thank u thank u stagrod listen to him he is correct. but say he break in and realize that you caught him and turned his back to run out, you can not shoot him because your life is no longer in danger.

  10. totally depends on where you live.

if you're in a 'red' state, texas for example, you can pretty much shoot anyone who comes onto your property unwelcome-like.

'blue' states or municipalities can be quite a different story. in these areas, the politicians and 'law enforcement' brass are often very much against civilian ownership and use of firearms.

take DC for example - they're trying to completely prevent civilian use of firearms for self-defense in the home despite the supreme court just telling them folks have a right to do just that!

totally depends on where you live and the exact circumstances, so far as whether you'll face prosecution or not.

  11. DEPENDS ON THE STATE,

    IN CALIF.

IF YOUR GUN IS LEGAL, (REGISTARED/YOUR A NON FELON)

IF YOU CAN PROVE YOU WERE IN FEAR OF YOUR LIFE OR FAMILY'S LIFE, THAT MEANS BACK AGAINST THE WALL, NO WAY OUT.

    sorry 4 caps

YOU HAVE TO PROVE YOU HAD NO OTHER CHOICE,   YOU CANNOT JUST SHOOT A PERSON/INTRUDER, YOU HAVE PROVE THAT PERSON WAS A THREAT TO YOUR LIFE, IF THEY SUPRIZE YOU...LIKE JUMP OUT A CLOSET, AND YOU  HAPPEN TO HAVE YOUR GUN, THEN ITS POSSIBLE TO GET AWAY WITH IT,   JUSTIFIABLE HOMICIDE.

BUT IF YOU CANT PROVE ALL THAT..IT WOULD BE MANSLAGHTER.

  12. Depends where you live.

If you live in somewhere like Peoples Republic of California, Soviet Socialist Republic of New York, or third world poophole Washington D.C. you are looking at serious jail time.  Plus you will have to take diversity classes to learn that sociopath criminals have rights and you do not.

If you live in Texas or Florida, make sure it's a fatal shot, that way only you live to tell.

  13. I'm not sure about other states but in Colorado the person has to be in the house if you shoot before then you are in big p**p.

  14. omg... did u shoot somebody???

  15. Depends on you state and local laws...here in Texas...SHOOT EM !!!
