If someone bullies you or calls you names how do you react?

Question

say if you're a woman some stranger called you a fat pig and made oinking noises.. or if you're a guy they called you a fa.g (like in another question). how would you react (not how you'd LIKE to react, but how you'd actually react?) do you get upset, angry or just don't care? do you confront them? personally I get really upset when things like that are said to me, I feel completely ashamed and want to cry... its hard cause I'm so sensitive to things like that. how do you react in similar situations?

I was on vacation a few weeks ago and someone asked where I was from and I said I was from near San Francisco so he asked, "Are you g*y?"  so I responded in a very effeminate voice, "really, is that all you think about us?  I'll have you know that I am very offended"  and then I told him in a regular voice that he shouldn't just assume.  I mostly like to play up to the part of whatever someone accuses me of being then get in their face and tell them they're an idiot.

I often respond by saying " ...I have been called names by experts .. you do not even get within 'coo - eee' of them.." This usually keeps them up quiet.

Don't worry I react the same way. I am really sensitive too. If someone picks on me I get really upset and cry my eyes out. I also get really mad.

I was bullied all throughout school up to the sixth grade and the last time i was bullied i lost my temper and slammed his head into the lockers. I was home schooled ever since.

I got called a f.a.g. a lot in highschool, and I'd always freeze up and be too scared to say anything back.

Now, A few years later If someone were to say that I'd shoot a sarcastic comeback like "oouuh did i hit a softspot" or something like that.

i used to get bullied and get called names so i know what you mean , these bullies ,or who ever is bothering you ,want a reaction from you.. You just need to ignore it and walk away , show them that you're not bothered

i shouldn't ever confront them because you don't know who these people are etc they might start on you x

I just feel sorry for them. They obviously are hurting inside. I am confident and know what they say isn't true and move on. If you don't feed the fire it extinguishes itself.

Most of us will feel upset and want to give them a peace of our mind, but, the best thing to do it just completely ignore them as if u never heard them. So, let them laugh and try hard to get your attention, and you just walk away and don't give em the light of day. whats more annoying to someone is the one who doesnt pay any attention to them.

When someone calls me a s.l.u.t or a w.h.o.r.e I get really hurt, because I am far from that, especially since I'm a virgin... but anyways. I usually just ignore insults and make the person feel bad. When someone insults you, typically they want you to react. If I do react, it won't be in front of the insult-er. But hey, all else fails, get a friend or your man to come stand up for you. Once these little skaters kept calling me a w.h.o.r.e and I had my boyfriend go and tell them off (he was older and bigger than them) and they haven't said anything since. But the moral way to do it is to just turn the other cheek. Remember, their opinion doesn't matter.

I would laugh, and then I would say "excuse me?"

He would be like, "you heard me."

I would laugh again.

If he called me something more offensive, such as n.i.g.g.e.r., that's when I get on the offensive and things don't look pretty. And we start fighting. :D

When called a "fa.g", I ask the person if they're interested and looking for a trick, and tell them where they can find one. When I'm flipped off by a guy, I do the "limp wrist" and say "No"...really makes them mad.

I don't get upset, I know they are the one with the problem. Those kind of people are easy to turn the tables on and send them away ridiculed and shamed worse than they attempted, as their self-esteem is usually lower than most others.

they're so very easy to mock.

Then if they reply with something stupid..

I ask "Do you have a life"

they say yes..

Then i say, "if you want to keep it, p**s off/go away/get lost/dont"

lol when i got called names i used to walk up them and push them around and if they tryed to hit me then i would start to fight them it depends if not that then i would just say **** up or laugh at them and call them names back :) but now that changed that was a long time ago now i just would tell the teacher or i would say nothing back :D if i were you i would ignore them for being stupid XD

Usually just complete and utter obliviousness. They don't deserve an answer. If they'd get in my face they'd be looking for a prosthetic eye as their next step. No time for nonsense.

actions speak louder than words... show them a piece of how you would like to see them. you can just hit them once and make it effective so they get the message. all you need to do is dont give them the impression your being offended give them the opposite one. Or say something like watch out for calmer, what ever goes around comes around. thats after they tease you or something and let them think about that for a change and they might stop.

Don't show them in any way that you are upset. Their point is to get you upset. So act calm and cool even if it did hurt you inside. Don't get to their level and call them bad names in return because that will just get them going on.

So what you have to do is to act cool, talk to them ONLY with body language especially with your eyes, show them that you are confident with yourself and think they are immature and are bunch of losers.  You can show them all that by your body language, I am 100% sure. Which hurts them more than words.

If they noticed that it doesn't annoy you when they call you names, and that you are confident with yourself. They would eventually stop.   Good luck.

If I feel phsicly threthtend,like there gonna beat me or something,I run,I'm a compleate chicken,but if I don't I'll confrount them.If it's done more is jest than I'll usually call them something back.
