  1. Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week, more likely. On Monday you'd have to phone to make an appointment with the Registry of Births, Marriages and Deaths to get a death certificate. Armed with the death certificate or, failing that, the certificate issued by the doctor, you'd then have to see the undertaker and join the general queue of people seeking to arrange funerals at various venues. It all takes much longer than you would imagine.

  2. Wednesday would be traditional for most Christian burials. Jews go in the ground right away and as far as the rest go, It's whenever I guess.

  3. It depends mainly on the family members and what they decide.

  4. There are no set rules.  It should be held when all the immediate family can reasonably get there.  I attended one last week that was two weeks after the deceased.  In fact, he had already been buried.

  5. It depends on a few things.  An important factor:   if there are family members that are out of town, they will try to have the funeral later in the week to give the family time to get there.  There also has to be time to prepare the body, schedule the funeral home, prepare for the wake and service.  It does take some time.
