  1. No.  It will cost you international text message rates just as if they were in their home country.  And they may have to pay to receive them.


  2. It depends on their cellular service. Some are free, some are more expensive. Also, the plans matter. I have Sprint & I can send texts internationally free to my friend in Brazill. He has the same plan as me, so it's free for him to read them. Hope this helps! :)
