  1. You can become PR if you feel Puerto Rican ......I was born in Mexico (Mexican dad) (PR mom). I was 9 when I moved to Puerto Rico...I consider myself Puertorican  besides mexican......I think I became PR when I change my accent to Puerto Rican. Also when I started feeling proud everytime I saw the flag our hear the anthem, when I prefered PR food rather than mexican food......and above all!!!!!!!!! when you miss PR!!!!!!!!!!! right now Im in med school in the Domincan Republic and everytime I go to PR for vacation I fell sad just because I have to leave my beautifull Island ........as I said you become PR if you feel you are PR!!!!!!!

  2. No, defaintly not, they are still American.

  3. No

  4. You would be called a gringo

  5. here in puerto rico we said Gringo, or gringa or americano, to all this person, if we are talking in spanish, but if we are tlaking in english you will stay at the same, american.

  6. No, you will be called "Americano".

  7. I moved from Ohio to PR two years ago.  I am a "gringa".  People often ask me if  I am american and I am proud to say "yes and so are you".  Puerto Ricans are american citizens the same as I am but they retain thier cultural identity better than americans do.

  8. Just "an american resident of Puerto Rico" unless your parents or grandparents are from Puerto Rico.   If your family is from Puerto Rico and you were raised in the USA you may be called a niuyorican (a puertorrican from New York, even if you did not lived there).

However, there are allways exceptions, entretainer Tony Croato who was born in Italy, lived many years in Argentina before coming to PR and embraced our culture and loved Puerto Rico so much that is considered by most (if not all) of us a puertorrican.

  9. of course not just like if u were puerto rican and u moved to america ur not considered an american u r a citzen so we puerto ricans and americans r both welcome in eachothers country but that wont change our heritage

  10. NO... It's only in AmeriKa where you have HYPHEN Amerikans... in ANY OTHER COUNTRY... you will NEVER bee anything but an AmeriKan... WITHOUT the hyphen.

  11. no... they would still be americans..

they would only become puerto rican if they had been naturalised and even then, they'd be americo-puerto rican

  12. No, unless you have Puerto Rican heritage.

  13. You will be a GRINGO, but be very welcome as well.

  14. Are you serious ...become a naturalize citizen of Puerto Rico.

I am sorry to be so cruel. But with the advent of the internet why would people volunteer such ignorant information.

Puerto Rico as you already know is part of the United States, and you are a citizen if you are born there or in the continental U.S.

So in context of your question. I was born in New York and moved to Washington DC. I am a Washingtonian? I do not think so.
