and lived, how would they change? Would their speech be affected? My bf's friend just got into a wreck and she had to have part of her skull, temporal lobe removed. If she lives, is she going to be severely different?

  1. The temporal lobes are involved in the primary organization of sensory input. Language can be effected by temporal lobe damage. The temporal lobes are highly associated with memory skills too.The left temporal lesions disturb recognition of words, and may result in impaired memory for verbal material. The right temporal damage can cause a loss of inhibition of talking and can result in recall of non-verbal material, such as music and drawings.

All in all she should be fine, it might take her a while to adjust but she should get back on track fast.

  2. A very serious, traumatic event.  I have no first hand information but I think that she might be different but some people seem to survive very serious injury with little long term effect.  I hope she is one of the lucky ones.  Including her in my prayers.
