  1. LEGAL RESIDENTS AREN'T ALLOWED TO VOTE IN ELECTIONS WHILE IT IS TRUTH THAT THEY ARE IN THE COUNTRY LEGALLY THEY STILL ARE NO BORN CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES.  BASICALLY THEY CAN DO AS MUCH AS ANY CITIZEN CAN EXCEPT FOR CERTAIN POSITIONS IN GOVERNMENT BUT THEY CAN EVEN JOIN THE ARMED FORCES IF THEY WISH TO DO SO!

  2. A Green Card or Permanent Residency Card does not expire.  periodically a new card may be issued because of a persons change in a photo.  For example an 18 year old who years later turns 45 years of age. Possibly a big difference in appearance.

The very term permanent residency card means that that that person who is the card holder is a permanent resident of the United States and may remain here for the rest of that person's life.  The only thing is that that person is NOT a US Citizen.

So  a person with a green card is a permanent resident who is here legally.  With all the rights and responsibilities of a citizen such as paying taxes and possibly being drafted into military service if the draft is ever re-instituted again. The only "privelige" not afforded the permanent resident is the privelige (right) to vote in US Elections.

  3. A "green card" is an immigrant or legal alien known as a "legal permanent resident."  They are completely legal to live and work in the United States.  However, they are not citizens and they do not have the right to vote.  In order to be a citizen, a legal permanent resident must reside in the United States for at least a specific amount of time and be legal here for seven years.  (There are some circumstances, such as immigrants serving in the military, that decrease the amount of time an immigrant must wait to apply for citizenship.)

  4. If you are a citizen you don't need a Green Card.....

  5. A person with a green card is a legal resident, not a citizen.  A person with a green card cannot vote in the U.S. elections.

  6. this individual is only a legal resident, and can not vote until they become a naturalized U.S. citizen.

  7. They are a legal resident. They cannot vote because they are not a citizen fo the U.S. To be able to vote, they have to become a naturalized citizen.

  8. I'm a green card guy.  I'm not a citizen.  I have permission to live here, have a job, pay taxes, etc.  However, I can't vote (not that I'd want to - none of them seem worth voting for.)  I also can't get called up for military service and I can't get called for jury duty.  I also can't get a government job of any kind (including simple jobs like delivering the mail) and I'm not eligible for welfare, even though I've been paying into it for the last 15 years.

  9. A green card is for those who are legal citizens all the person has to do is take a citizenship test and pass it to become a citizen..But if a green card expires if they don't get it renstated it could cause them to be deported at some point..I think..I will check again..Take care Megan

  10. He is a resident and can't vote

  11. A green card means you are a Resident Alien..Not a citizen.

I love it  ... I am a card carrying Alien

  12. Green card holders are legal permanent residents of the United States and they are prohibited from voting in elections were United States citizenship is required. This is usually limited to local elections but as always, there are 50 different states and 50 different laws for local elections.

  13. legal resident only, not a citizen and no they cant vote.
