Would it be ethical to allow and assist them in committing suicide to end their pain? For example they would push the final button but you would help set the button up for them. Why or why not? Thanks.

  1. no, definatly not, depression is treatable and they can happy and pain free without killing themselves. take them to a doctor for some uber strong depressants. they can and will be better. butdeath isnt an answer

  2. ..i know person having that has too many reasons to have the suicide but think about it think way... would running away help? (at aleast for some time). if not, think about it this way as if you have already dead and try to give your life for the cause of something else. person needs to GET OUT of that situation, maybe go to small village in china where noone knows. and noone expects.

if all fails, i think yes suicide is ethical but only if the person is doing it to themselves (why need assistance). the person who's going to assist is not going to sleep for days...they will have guilt and other problems.

And one more thing, if someone commits it, they should think about how many ppl will feel devastated because of it. sometimes, parents get so shocked- not knowing their children were in black hole & needed help.

maybe you think "Every possible cure has been attempted with no success." but that what YOU think. thinking is limited due to ...well many reasons. it's like asking a person living in 2D to think about 3D... i mean think outside the box.

yes it is a black hole but there is a way out- if the person looks up.

  3. I could never assist someone in killing themselves.  Unless they were unable to do it themselves, and then I guess I'd have to think about it.  For example, if I were in a plane crash, into a remote area, and someone was severely injured and in a lot of pain, and probably dying, and begged me to shoot them, or whatever, I might do it.  Or if a loved one was dying of cancer.  But not depression.  You could live a lifetime and probably not try every drug there is to treat depression, so you really couldn't say you've done everything you can do.

  4. depression can be treated - as long as there is hope, death is not an option.

  5. Nooooo, Why waste the precious gift that God gave you, plus its not up to you when you go, and if you make that decision, it might be true whats stated in the bible and you will regret it for an eternity. I sure don't want to find out that way. There's definitely a cure for the most severe form of depression known to man. Don't be foolish and seek help so you or your loved one can improve the situation and the quality of life.

  6. If it was me I wouldn't help this person kill themselves because depression is treatable.  It's not as though the person has late stage stomach cancer or something else that is nearly always fatal and extremely painful.  Don't help your friend commit suicide, instead help your friend get into therapy and get some help.  I'm sure they've tried things before, but that's no reason to give up and as the person who isn't depressed you have to point that out.  Help your friend get well again, please.
