I have been charged for something on my credit card statement, and I didn't buy it! I'm new with credit cards so I have no idea what to do...how do I find out who used my card number? Is there any way?

  1. usually can't. They were pretending to B U.. Unless U can get the address it was shiioed to, then camp out at the address U're out of luck.. PS.. I would cancel my card asap

  2. www.FICSMYCREDIT.com

  3. No there is no way to find out who is using your card info fraudently....unless as someone said they bought something that needed to be shipped and you could find out from the address....however if this person is smart they wouldn't have anything shipped to an address where they actually live....

Asfar as what to do---dispute it with the card company and they will handle it accordingly

  4. No need to find out

Just call your card company (number at the back of the card) or login to your online account, and then tell them you want to open a dispute as you did not authorize that purchase

Once the card company opens a dispute, then the charge will be removed from your account. But they may want some paperwork for you to sign (e.g. affidavit that you did not charge it) -- it depends on the procedures of your card company

You may also want to ask your credit card company to issue you a new number if the current one has been compromised

  5. The back of your credit card statement tells how to dispute charges (which should be done in writing).  But first make absolutely certain that you did not make that charge.  Sometimes a charge may post as a different company name than you thought.

The credit card company is not going to tell you who made the charge.  They will attempt to verify it with the merchant before deciding whether to drop it or not.
