renew their permit and keep trying, or just give up? Permits expire after 3 years, but I think it's pretty easy to renew it.

  1. if after 3 yrs they still can't pass the test then there's a problem. maybe they shouldn't be driving at all. driving and road rules are basicly simple, but there are some people who lack the coordination and concentration it requires. i'm not trying to be mean, my own mother tried many times before realizing that driving just wasn't for her.

  2. how can someone not learn how to drive after 3 yrs?? i managed to drive fine and i don't even have my permit. you have to practice more than just driving on the road. drive ATVs. boats, snowmobiles etc. this will improve your ability to control the vehicles without having to worry about traffic, rules, roads etc. just concentrate on driving. once you practice enough, driving will come naturally. i am only 15. i have been driving off-road helices forever. driving a car is just a small step. cars have much more control than a boat or atv. if you become good at boating and ATVing and you can put the vehicle anywhere you want it at any condition, driving a car will be simple.

  3. If they cant drive after three years than they shouldn't be driving at all

  4. The problem here is simple lack of motivation in wanting to be behind the wheel.  Nothing else.  If they don't want to drive, they don't have to - whatever the reason is behind why they don't have an interest in gaining the responsibility of becoming a licensed driver.  Don't force them.  Let them make their own decision as to what they want to do.

When they become more interested in driving, then and only then will they be successful in getting their license.  Wait until that point and not before.  Bikes, buses, and carpools are excellent alternatives.

I would however recommend they renew their permit, if only to have a valid State-issued ID.  If they have absolutely no desire to ever drive again, then switch it to an Identity card instead.

  5. Renew and keep trying, dont give up.....

  6. I think you should renew it and keep trying. If you are 18 though, you can get a drivers license without a permit. Here in NC, the only thing having a permit allows you to do is drive with someone who has had license for 5 years, and when you do go get your license, you won't have to do the signs test, just the road test. I don't know where you live, but I think its just a matter of can you learn and just go get your license or do you feel more comfortable with a permit

  7. renew and take the road test already!!
