If someone hit your car door, & they drove away,don't know who they were?

if someone hit your car door, now it is crushed & hanging on by a thread, they drove away, don't know who they were?

What can you do ? What steps are to be taken?

I hit hit and runners. Someone backed into my car and damaged the rear bumper, but they just drove away, no note or anything. So the only thing you can really do is file a police report and look out for cars in your area that have damage that would go along damage your car has suffered (like your color paint on a car that has a damaged bumper) Unfortunately though, you'll probably never find out who did it and you'll just have to pay for this one or hopefully your insurance covers it.

depends on your state, really... how exactly did this happen? was your door open when it was struck? if so, how long was it open? hopefully you have collision coverage.
