My now current ex borrowed a certain amount from me and has yet to repay me. I only have proof thru text that he promises to pay me the money back, and yet I still have not received it. What would be the best way to get this taken care of? An individual I know mentioned that telling his commander would be best to get the money paid back to me, please help!!!

  1. You say " my now currant ex"! Husband? Boy friend? How long has it been after him borrowing the money?  They don't make very much in the Air Force!!  Do you have a signed promisary note from him? and what was the money for anyhow? Why not ask him if you know his address, to send a little at a time, cos telling his commanding officer is really a poor choice of action. It could ruin his career! Don't be spiteful - there's an old saying, what goes around, comes around. Try and work things out with him before doing anything else.

  2. getting a lawyer would be your best bet the lawyer would be the best person to contact his commander not you since you did not enter into a legal contract with him then the commander may just assume that you are upset and trying to get even with an ex however if you can prove that there was a verbal agreement that he would pay you back and those texts would help to prove your point but you really would need more proof than that  and he can not prove that he has already paid you back then if the lawyer give his commander a heads up his commander would then get involved  but his commander can not force him to pay you a dime a judge however can order him to pay you if he then refuses to pay you back then not only will he be in trouble as a civilian with the law but he will also be in trouble with the military this can mean anything from demotion to dishonorable diss charge and possibly time in a military prison if the military chooses to press charges against him aswell wich i highly doubt would happen however whenever the commander gets involved they usually just pay back asap cuz they dont want to take the chance of messing up their military career

  3. I think you'll need more proof than his txts. But yeah, I've heard that if servicemen stiff their bills, ratting them out at work is pretty effective.
