I know that I can go to my router's page and figure out their IP addresses, but from that, how can I find them?

  1. Just lock you network......people will always use your signal if you do not lock it.............

  2. Simply locking it is good but you can also simply click Network under Start on windows and if there is any computer you dont recognize, lock it.

  3. You best option is to use MAC address filtering and encrypt your connection.

  4. 1) WiFi ? Just turn on WPA WiFi security (at the same time you can turn on MAC address filtering, however any half decent hacker knows how to detect and 'spoof' the MAC address to a legitimate user)...

    2) Wired LAN ? Use the IP address to obtain the Computers name .. (if it's name is not on the list of Computers you have authorised to join your Domain, then they have breached Domain security.

If it's a small company, and you don't have a Domain, consider implementing one.

If you want to 'catch' them, then you are going to have to locate which physical sub-net they are on, trace the wires and check each physical PC that is plugged in ..

Isolate your Domain Server (pull out the Ethernet cable) go into user accounts and find out (& disable) any other user account that has Domain Admin privileges .. and change the password of your own Admin account(s) ... then remove that PC from the Domain before plugging the Ethernet back in ..

    3) If they are coning in from the web (via VPN etc) just disable the account they are using .. if it's the account of a legitimate user, just change that users password...
