If someone is imprisoned in a foreign country, does it show up on their American records?

I was watching some show on MSNBC about people getting locked up abroad and was just curious to know if their record follows them home when they come back to the U.S.? Or is as if it never happened? Thanks.

  1. Criminal records are established from fingerprint submissions. If someone was arrested outside the US, the finger prints would not be submitted to the FBI, so there would be no record.
