After how many years should they just give up? Given the assumption it is not a lazy person, and driving is important for the area(an area without mass transit)

  1. It took my older brother 8 years of trying to pass his drivers test. To this day, I still won't ride with him.

  2. That person  shouldn't try for 6 months, then try again.   Sometimes there are people  who can't learn to drive because of physical, mental  or medical limitations.   This is important to recognize because, as Clint Eastwood said as Dirty Harry:  "A man's got to know his limitations."  As to not being able to get a driver's license and needing transportation,  what to do?   This person   needs to look for other opportunities.

  3. Some people don't have the capacity to learn.. and it's true.

Maybe this person just need classes with an expert driving instructor (maybe the person they are trying to learn with stresses them out)

Otherwise some people just take longer..

I would suggest never to give up..

  4. Before giving it up I would suggest that you get a personal driver trainer to help you.

  5. Think of the money that a person would have if they didn't have the expense of a car; and every expense that goes along with it!  I know a person that simply never wanted to learn how to drive because she was afraid. This person has way more money than I!

  6. Well one of my co-workers, he is 25 years old and he just got his license.  So.. Keep trying? LOL
