I mailed something to a sort of business partner, and they called me and left me a message letting me know that they got it and really like it. Should I call them back?

  1. If you actually sent it, then just accept the message as confirmation of receipt...no other action required or expected.

  2. Is it drugs?  You can tell us.

  3. Yes, I think so. I would call and say something like, "Thank you for letting me know the painting arrived safely. I hope you enjoy it! Bye, bye!" It would be a simple courtesy, a polite thing to do. They acknowledged receipt, and you simply are thanking them for letting you know the painting arrived safely. I think this falls under common courtesy, not exactly a requirement as such.
