  1. I think most Americans do follow these misconceptions. There's this slight expectation that if you're Asian American, you have the top grades, a set savings and sense of frugality (handling/saving money) and are able to come into the USA and live the American dream... owning your own home, store, and getting rich, all within a number of years. I have to admit they work very hard for the things they do... and they're willing to make sacrifices, unlike most americans. Is there such a thing as a model miniority? I think we should look inside the shell, as opposed to the outer. I know tons of Asians who are on welfare, or unsuccessful in school and work. It depends on your family background, etc. Most people would probably say African Americans are the worst model for miniorities, but I am African American, and I'm doing pretty well in life. It depends on your work ethic and who you are.

Pacific Islanders have such a different culture than Asian Americans... its like this... I'm Afro-Carribbean, and I'm considered "African American".... two different forms of culture with the same skin tone.... Pacific Islanders just happen to be the same tone as many of their Asian counterparts... but they have more of a mythologically based culture and society, whereas most Asian cultures are Philsophically based..... hope i helped!
