  1. First:  There are 60 x 60 = 3600 seconds per hour.

Second:  There are 5280 feet in a mile.

If someone runs 8 feet per second, he runs 8 x 3600 feet per hour.

    8 x 3600 = 28,800 feet per hour

    Since 5280 feet = 1 mile

    1...........5280

    ---- =...-------------

    y..........28,800

    Cross multiply

    y x 5280 = 28,800 miles per hour

    y = 28,800/5280 miles = 5.4545 miles per hour   <<<<<

  2. 8 feet * 60 seconds * 60 minutes * 1 mile

    --------------------------------------...

    1 second * 1 minute * 1 hour * 5280 feet

(Everything is supposed to be lined up but you know how finicky yahoo is)

All of the units cancel out except for mile/hour

so the solution is about 5.4545454545 miles per hour.

    Good luck to you !

  3. 8 feet/s * 1 mi / 5280 feet * 3600 s / h = 60/11 mi/h

    60/11 is approx 5.4545 mph

  4. Feet Per Second in Miles Per Hour

    Feet X 60 X 60 / 5280ft

You take your Feet per second times 60 (secs in 1 minute) then times 60 again (minutes in one hour) which gives you feet traveled in 1 hour and to convert it into miles per hour you divide that number to feet in a mile which is 5280ft.

  5. (8ft/sec) (1mile/5280ft)(3600sec/1hour)

    5.45mph

    make it a good day

  6. 1 mile = 5280 feet

    1 hr. = 3600 sec.

    how many miles in 8 ft?          8 / 5280 = 1.5 ( 10^-3) miles

    how many hours in 1 sec?      1 / 3600 =  2.7 (10^-2} hours

    divide:   miles / hour                             = 0.056  mph

  7. 1 mile = 5280 feet

    8 feet = 8 / 5280 mile = 0.001515......15 miles

    1 second = 1/3600 hours

    8 ft/s

    = (8/5280)miles / (1/3600)hours

    = 5.45 mph
