Is there a timeframe to wait before being able to switch? Any info would be helpful.

  1. Not its not difficult at all. Just go to a navy recruiter and go active. There has to be an opening for you. If there is, you just run the paperwork and you are on active duty.

If there is no job opening for you on active duty, they might require you to train into a different rate or NEC.

Either way- it's very easy to go from reserve to active duty. There's no waiting period.
