If someone were to break into the house and is trying to kill someone i know...?

Question

a)Could i kill the person that broke into my house, and not be in any trouble with the law? I always wondered to myself if someone were to break into the house like a robber with a knife or a gun and threatened a family member and i shot the robber dead would i be in trouble?

b)If i saw a random woman in the street being raped buy a guy with a gun, and i shot the guy with the gun dead, would i be in trouble?

I know if i saw a crazy rapist or burgler it would be best to shoot them in the leg or something, but if they had a gun or knife near someone's neck or something, you wouldn't want to take any chances.

The main question is, would i get in trouble for killing some guy in the defence of someone else's life?

You have the right to defend others, exactly to the same extent that they have the right to defend themselves.  If you think you see someone getting mugged, and you come to their aid, and it turns out he was being lawfully arrested by an undercover cop, then you are in deep doo doo.  Furthermore, while you can defend others, no law requires the cops or DA to simply take your word for it.  If you were arrested and charged, the jury would be instructed that defense of others is a defense, and if they believe you then you should be acquitted.  However, your question asked if you can get "in trouble."  Whether that amounts to getting in trouble is for you to decide.

if you were on the street seeing someone being raped you FIRST would have to have a CCW in which case you would know that if you are going to take the gun out and shoot someone it will be to kill them ONLY IF SOMEONES LIFE AT RISK OF BEING TAKEN

now that you have made this post and it is already in the hands of "Big Brother" you should think twice about your bent on wanting to find some excuse to kill someone . . better yet SEEK HELP!!
