If something is double is it twice the size?

A friend of mine was saying that twice the size is not the same as double. He said that something double is that quantity twice over (which is contradictory so he may have said it the other way around) eg. double 100 grams is 200 grams. But if it's twice the size of 100 grams it is 150 grams (50% extra)...I was arguing that something doubled is twice the size and they have the same mathematical and gramatical meaning but now I'm not sure...

i think twice and doubled is the same it means 2 or times 2

Twice means two times, and so does double.  

100 grams twice is 200 grams

100 grams doubled is 200 grams.

Another way to look at it:  if you ate 100 grams of sugar twice a day, you would eat 100 grams two times (twice) a day, or 200 grams of sugar.  You ate double the amount you would have if you had only ate once a day. Twice and double means two times (2X).  

Another example:  a 15-year old boy tells his friend that his 30-year old uncle is twice his age.  He could also say his uncle is double his age.  30 is twice the age of 15; and 15 doubled is 30.

100 grams doubled is 200 grams

dont add 50% extra, that would be One and Half

add 100 percent extra, because being doubled means basically x2
