  1. many times you need more acceleration such as passing or very steep hills. to set the max speed you also need to set the max rpm's

  2. I have asked myself the same question!

My own personal theory is that making cars that go faster opens up new jobs called cops. I think its stupid....if you make fast cars you can't not expect people to speed. We shouldn't get pulled over, the car companies should be made to change the cars or something.

  3. On most cars, it's for emissions and fuel mileage.

If you make the max speed at 75mph and the speed limit is 75, you're more than likely going to be running the car at 5,000 rpm. On the average 3.0 litre engine, that's going to put your fuel mileage at about 12 mpg.

  4. Speed sells car and the manufacturers care about profit.

  5. Because limits vary from place to place. There are still areas without speed limits.

You can order a Chevrolet or GMC pickup with a speed limiter set at 70mph.

  6. .

    Stig

    Autobahns

    Track Days

    Government Coffers

    Saudi Princes

    Egos

Drivers With That Element of Self Control

People That Cannot Visualise a Small Child Being Hurt

    .

  7. Because no one would buy a car that's top speed was 65. Too wussy. Also we need to speed for acceleration.

  8. well, if they only made cars that can go 65-75., you would have to have your car running at max to go the speed limit.  Not very good. Plus, Americans love fast cars - we buy cars that go faster, so that is what they make.  Sales would be horrible on cars that only went 65...

  9. Need 4 Speed

  10. because you can use them on the track and no limits plus no follows the speed limit anyways

  11. Because more drivers care about speed than they do about speed limits and questions like this.
