they claim that g*y people chose to be g*y? It's absolutely ridiculous.

Why would someone choose to open themselves up too something most people thing is wrong to a degree and has so much prejudice and stigma attached.

I don't want people to just agree with my statement, I actually would like an answer.

Oh, and homophobes I'd really like an answer from you too.

  1. This is usually what I ask people who question me about my "choice." I ask: "what day, what hour, what EXACT MOMENT IN TIME did you decide you were straight? Or is it just a 'gut feeling' thing?" Most people get it but there are others who still insist that while they were "born str8," at some point I made a conscious choice to be g*y. I don't argue with those people because they've made up their minds, I can't change them and that would be a waste of my time and their time.

I think a person's ability to be sympathetic to and understanding of the finer points of biology, genetics and sheer chance in nature depends a lot on one's upbringing, religious background, socialization and education. Because some people are so steeped in the male+female=good biology, they find it difficult to accept any other combinations. Granted, the male+female combination is the traditional way to maintain the species (yes, yes, there's artificial insemination and what-have-you but those techniques are the exception to the rule) and I would posit that MOST of the population will fall into that category. But at the same time, Mother Nature is a master at generating alternative and seemingly non-productive variants. Just because we can't identify the REASON why these little differences occur doesn't mean there ISN'T a reason.

So, I'm g*y, a slight biological deviation from the norm, but I'm happy with that and others who worry about it shouldn't do so on my account.

  2. simple they think this because there ignorant.

  3. I don't believe you have a real choice. I am a straight women. I have never been physically or sexually attracted to other women.

In my opinion when people say they choose to be g*y or straight I think they mean that they decided to either overcome any societal teachings that despite their sexual orientation they must be straight, or to appease the same society they decided to ignore those feelings and live as a straight person.

  4. Obvioulsy, it's a way of avoiding having to deal with a troublesome question.  Like heterosexuals, the evidence - and there is a great deal of it - points to the notion that we are all born with our sexual identity.

The most any g*y person could do is to choose to abstain; just as a "straight" person could....  Not very realistic, now is it?

For a Christian, Jew, or Muslim, the question gets decidedly ticklish.  A literal, if superficial, reading of scripture seems to obviously point to condemning homosexuality as sinful.  That, however, is debatable.

But it is far easier to dismiss homosexuality as a willful choice than to deal with it head on.

In any event, avoiding the issue doesn't make it go away.  In the meantime, all I, or you, can do, is to treat g**s decently, offering them the same civility and decency we want for ourselves.

  5. I am straight (girl - the wolf avatar may be confusing)

but I've never thought that g*y people choose to be g*y

there are studies that say g*y people have a tendency to be that way due to chemical balances in their brain. It's no different than how some people are mentally set when born to have a tendency to be anxious or like the opposite s*x. There is a lot of science that goes into it.

and if you truly love someone

    why should it matter?

  6. We CHOSE to be staight and they CHOOSE to be g*y! It's just the way it works!

  7. As a bi-sexual, I can NOT choose who I'm attracted to, but I can choose 2 ACTIVELY engage 1 way or the other (or both) !  - or neither: which I've done for years @ a time & been 'labeled' Asexual !! People like 2 label U & make assumptions because it makes them feel more secure about who they R !!!

  8. well people are too ignorant, closed minded, arrogant... and they only care  about what they are taught and most people are taught to hate on people who are different from what they would call "normal"

  9. You also ask, "Why would someone choose to open themselves up too something most people thing is wrong to a degree and has so much prejudice and stigma attached."

Well, lets expound on that a little.  Knowing what we know about drugs, alcohol, tobacco and a host of other things, one could argue the same.  Why would people open themselves up to it???

Simple, it's called self-desire, self-serving and self-centeredness.  It just goes to support the position that it is a choice.  One does not become a alcoholic or addict until they CHOOSE to experiment in that lifestyle and find it somewhat self-gratifying and choose to stay in that lifestyle. And that applies to the homosexual lifestyle too.

  10. I agree with u it pisses me off when ppl say that it's like are u that stupid to see that g*y ppl are so depressed about being g*y alot a times because of society and religion. If it weren't for those things then their would be a huge decrease in suicids and g**s would feel less guilty for being g*y. Reason I say feel guilty is because all thier lives they knew something was wrong with them but they didn't know wat until they reach high school and learn wat g*y is and means then that's when ppl say that they choose to be g*y which is just being arrogant. Since it's torture enough just realizing that ur g*y let alone some arrogant a*****e putting u down.

  11. Because it's out of their happy little bubble of the "norm" and rather than try to just accept and hopefully understand, they prefer to judge and discriminate...it makes it easier for the "haters."

  12. Because we're so "gross" - we MUST have chosen it, right?

    (/rolls eyes.)

  13. People are born either straight or g*y, the majority of people are born straight because that's how we make more people.

Some g**s choose to be straight because they don't want to be g*y.

And some straights choose to be g*y for either attention or they're confused.

    Everyone has their reasons.

    I don't think most g**s choose to be g*y, I know I didn't. I was born like this.
