and landlord looses the property is the bank obligated to honor previous agreement of ex landlord. how much time does renter have before they have to move

  1. No, the bank is not required to honor the lease

    amount of time depends on your location

Once ownership changes to the lender, your lease is void, the lender is under no obligation to honor the lease.  How much time you have to move depends on the lender, maybe a month or so once they start the eviction process.  Some lenders offer a cash for keys programs to tenants, you leave quietly and the property in good condition, they will give you a couple hundred dollars.  Not all lenders do this though.


  3. No, banks aren't in the rental business. The bank may let you stay there until the property is sold or they can give you a 30 day notice.

  4. "Ex" landlord is the key word here. The bank is not your new landlord. Get packing!
