Well, all things considered, and I really hated them for their arrogance, I would have to say that the 1985 Chicago Bears were probably the best team to ever play in the NFL. They were not nearly as good the season before or the season after, a perfect illustration of the ephemeral nature of winning and the wacky chemistry that makes a good team great. Nothin' against those Niners.

The Bears were able to throw passes and catch them in dense fog... they were unbelievable.  And they had the great Walter Payton.

the West Coast offense wasn't around in 85'.

the Bears may have one of the best Defenses in history but they ran  it in a 46 scheme, the West Coast O would have shredded it.

Im going to say the Bears, theyd be able to (to some extent) slow Jerry Rice and Joe Montana, and Jim McMahon and Walter Payton should be able to put up points.

That was, without question, the most dominant defense to ever ravage the NFL. Its still a wonder the Dolphins beat them when they were 12-0.

Ill take the 85 Bears squad over ANYBODY.
