If the Asian countries did not shut themselves from the world?

If the East Asian countries of Japan, Korea and China did not isolate themselves from the rest of the world during the 1600's and continued to trade in a huge scale, do you think these countries could have been rivals to the Europeans and the world would not have been dominated by western culture? Would some sort of duality in power would have existed to this day?
