  1. They did.

The scientists draft said it was "virtually certain" that man was mostly the cause of global warming.

The political edit in the IPCC reduced that to "very likely".  Not much of a change, but it was all they could get away with.

  2. The report may have been toned down by the editing process, but it probably has nothing to do with the Bush administration.

"Instead of sea levels rising by about 40 centimetres, as the IPCC predicts in one of its computer forecasts, the true rise might be as great as several metres by 2100. That is why, they say, planet Earth today is in 'imminent peril.'"

    If we look past 2100,

    - Global and regional warming could more than quadruple after 2100

    - Sea level will still be rising at the end of the millennium (3000)

    - Ocean pH will fall dramatically for all but the minimum emission scenario

    - Business-as-usual could lead to abrupt climate changes

    - Abrupt climate changes could occur long after emissions cease

    - The ocean carbon sink becomes less effective the more CO2 is emitted

    - The land could be a net carbon source on the millennial timescale

The Bush administration ties to the oil industry are still pretty creepy though.

    Edit -

shapeshifter - Here are your oil connections:

Analysis: Oil and the Bush cabinet

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/america...

Vice-President d**k Cheney amassed some £50m-$60m while he was chief executive of Haliburton oil company.

Commerce Secretary Donald Evans held stock valued between $5m and $25m in Tom Brown Inc, the oil and gas exploration company he headed.

National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice was a director of Chevron.

Among the others with connections are Christine Todd Whitman, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Whitman owns interests in oil wells in Texas and Colorado valued at between $55,000 and $175,000. She has promised to

divest of them to meet ethics guidelines. Rumsfeld has between $3.25 million and $15.5 million worth of investments in energy-related companies. He is divesting himself of many financial holdings but has not provided details.

  3. it isnt funded by the US government, so no.

What do you mean "oil connections" with bush..  Are you repeating what you heard from some liberal blog or something?  What connections to oil would bush have?  I think bush ignored global warming because he understands how impossible it would be for life to go on like it does in america without oil.  He gave "tax giveaways" to "big oil" so we wouldnt have to pay what the europeans pay for their gas.. $7.50/gallon, which would destroy business/middle/lower class in america.  People seem to forget that american oil companies already pay 35 billion in taxes... which is the entire NASA budget, and the DEA budget combined.  If they have to pay more, they will pass the cost on to the consumer, taking more money away from the people of america.

We need something else, and we cant use our food for ethanol.  We need to use lawn grass, it grows everywhere and people cut it every week in the summer, it would be great to utilize it somehow.
