  1. hate to say it, but pretty much.  It wont be written in stone but a sweep would not only push them really far back in the division, but also shake their confidence a lot.   But seriously though, even though the cards are slumping pretty bad, i find it very unlikely that they will get swept.

  2. There's so much baseball left, but with teams like the Brewers and the Cubbies all in the NL Central, there can only really be 2 teams to come out of their.

  3. Well they'd be nine back. It'd be pretty difficult to overcome that unless the Cubs completely come unraveled in the last few weeks of the season. (I'm a Cubs fan, but it's happened many times before.)

I wouldn't think of a sweep though. As much as I'd love one, as long as the Cubs win series and take care of their own business no worries.

I do think the Cardinals' best shot is at the wild card, though.

  4. no    b/c they will play again.  Just keep winnig games and in the NL, that is not hard to do

  5. If the Cubs sweep the Cardinals this weekend, stick a fork in them. Mathematically, they won't be out. But psychologically they'll be done.

  6. The cards should at least win 2 of the 3 games to be in good condition.

It'll be hard for the cards to come back. Izzy isn't doing them any favors. He's by far my favorite cardinal and has been since i was young, but, I mean, c'mon Izzy! He better do well against the cubs!

  7. Pretty much.

  8. Yes

  9. They already can forget about the playoffs

  10. not technically but at the rate and level the cards are playing (and at the amazing rate the cubs and brewers are playing) it is highly unlikely that if the cubs sweep the cards will have any chance.

with lilly dempster and harden expecting to start the cubs put up some tough pitching while the cards have mixed pitching that is not consistant

overall i see the cubs sweeping the cards

  11. No they can't. That's what so beautiful about baseball, your place in the playoffs can depend on the result of other teams' failures. So if the rest of the season the Cubs and Brewers just come up short and the Cards can somehow win a lot of games, they can still make the playoffs. Remember that great Mets team last year? In front by I don't know how many games with 17 games left and they blew it.  This could happen again, plus they are close in the Wild Card. Good luck!

  12. Yes I would think that the Cardinals shot at division title will be all but over but what if the Cardinals sweep the Cubs, then what.  I would take one game at a time & see what happens

  13. no all it takes is the last week to stir things up because i dont see the cards getting that many games down

  14. Not completely but it certainly puts the percentages at a higher number. If the Cards get swept this weekend, it will take lots of winning from St. Louis and a big-time Cubs slump for the Cards to get in a division race.

  15. ...Yes

But you can always say "IF"

IF the Padres swept the Mets would they be out of contention?

You say it but it won't happen. But logically the Cardinals won't be swept

  16. i would say so. a nine game lead would seem too much to overcome, but you never know. thats why you play the games.
